“All day at school, children and teachers are exposed to uncontrolled, unmonitored, high-density microwave radiation from wireless devices. These radiation emissions are a type of invisible radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic radiation (EMR) used as wireless signals and wireless network coverage. Commercial-strength wireless access points (WAPS) generate, and forcefully release, microwave radiation into the school environment and into all its occupants six to seven hours per day, five days per week. Cumulative chronic exposures throughout a lifetime of schooling are very significant and are inadequately addressed.”
Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) awarded (July 2022) for UK child on the basis of Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS)
“Parents have now won a 5 year legal battle against 2 local authorities to have their child accommodated in school for EHS. They won in the Upper Tribunal, thus the ruling is also precedent setting. We believe this is the first case in the world where a government body is legally mandated to make low-EMF educational provisions to accommodate a child with EHS.”

Abstract
“Children today are conceived and live in a sea of wireless radiation that did not exist when their parents were born. The launch of the digital age continues to transform the capacity to respond to emergencies and extend global communications. At the same time that this increasingly ubiquitous technology continues to alter the nature of commerce, medicine, transport and modern life overall, its varied and changing forms have not been evaluated for their biological or environmental impacts. Standards for evaluating radiation from numerous wireless devices were first set in 1996 to avoid heating tissue and remain unchanged since then in the U.S. and many other nations. A wide range of evidence indicates that there are numerous non-thermal effects from wireless radiation on reproduction, development, and chronic illness. Many widely used devices such as phones and tablets function as two-way microwave radios, sending and receiving various frequencies of information-carrying microwave radiation on multiple simultaneously operating antennas. Expert groups advising governments on this matter do not agree on the best approaches to be taken. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends limited screen time for children under the age of two, but more than half of all toddlers regularly have contact with screens, often without parental engagement. Young children of parents who frequently use devices as a form of childcare can experience delays in speech acquisition and bonding, while older children report feelings of disappointment due to ‘technoference’—parental distraction due to technology. Children who begin using devices early in life can become socially, psychologically and physically addicted to the technology and experience withdrawal upon cessation. We review relevant experimental, epidemiological and clinical evidence on biological and other impacts of currently used wireless technology, including advice to include key questions at pediatric wellness checkups from infancy to young adulthood. We conclude that consistent with advice in pediatric radiology, an approach that recommends that microwave radiation exposures be As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) seems sensible and prudent, and that an independently-funded training, research and monitoring program should be carried out on the long term physical and psychological impacts of rapidly changing technological milieu, including ways to mitigate impacts through modifications in hardware and software. Current knowledge of electrohypersensitivity indicates the importance of reducing wireless exposures especially in schools and health care settings.”
Makarios Hospital Campaign on EMF/RF radiation (2020 Video Engl. Subs)
2020:
“The exposure to non-ionizing Electromagnetic Radiation (EMF/RF) is universal, manifold and uninterrupted. It will grow geometrically, and there is already a scattered inadvertent exposure. The dangers associated with it particularly affect children (cancer, effects on brain development and fertility).
For this reason, and on the basis of ongoing scientific evidence, the Cyprus Committee proposes the adoption of the Precautionary Prinsiple and ALARA (As Low Exposure As Possible). The reduction of exposure is in our hands and is made possible by the application of good practices.
The Committee’s four videos on EMF/RF Radiation, regarding it’s effects on children, foetuses/pregnant women and teenagers can be viewed below. All the videos contain English subtitles.
The President and the members of the Cyprus National Committee cordially thank Mr. Loucas Hamatsos for his consecutive non-profit participation in the informative videos on Electromagnetic Radiation Radiofrequency (EMF/RF), Mrs. Katerina Agapitou also for her non-profit participation in the video on pregnancy and the fetus, all the participants for their voluntary contribution, the producer Mr. Miltos Hadjoulles, and everyone who assisted in the production of the videos.”

Schools are under pressure
“Schools are in a difficult position as they are under pressure to incorporate ICT (information and communication technology) more fully into the curriculum. They are being encouraged to consider Wi-Fi due to the ease of installation and the money saved as a result. The idea that children and staff can use computers at any time and anywhere on the school grounds is an attractive one. But this is only attractive if the technology is safe. Schools need to weigh up the risks from wireless technologies suggested in the scientific literature, the calls for action made by the European Environment Agency, International Commission for Electromagnetic Safety, the Bio-Initiative report and others and address the concerns of parents and staff. Are the educational advantages of wireless computers over similar wired-up ones worth the potential effects on health and development?
Schools need to be safe places for children and young people and provide safe working conditions for their staff.”

“Children are exposed to Wi-Fi/2.45GHz in schools every day, around the world. Children are sitting with Wi-Fi-enabled tablet computers on their laps and up against their bodies for prolonged periods of time. The studies below support the claim that schools giving children wireless devices to use, or exposing them to Wi-Fi signals, are failing to safeguard the health, development or wellbeing of the young people for whom they are responsible.”

“Every child has the non-negotiable, obvious right to a healthy and safe school environment.
Governments and school boards can no longer trust the wireless communication industry’s monotonous slogan that Wi-Fi and cell phones are safe. In May 2011, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified microwave radiation, emitted by such wireless devices, as a possible carcinogen. WHO could no longer ignore the scientific and social pressure from
numerous studies, which have shown that Wi-Fi/cell phone radiation penetrates the body, affects cell membranes, makes cells lose their ability to function properly over time, and disturbs the body’s normal metabolism causing numerous abnormalities and diseases.
Children are especially vulnerable to microwave radiation because their nervous system and especially the brain are still developing. Moreover, their skulls are thinner and smaller than those of the adults, so the radiation penetrates their brains more freely and deeply.
Microwave radiation displays in children life threatening short and long term effects: the short term effects are experienced as headaches, dizziness, nausea, vertigo, fatigue, visual and auditory distortion (voices change volume, ringing ears), abnormal heart rates (racing heart rate or tachycardia, erratic heart rates), memory loss, attention deficit (trouble concentrating while in class), skin rash, hyperactivity, anxiety, autism, depression, night sweats, insomnia (microwaves affect melatonin levels), learning impairment, behavioural changes etc; the long term effects are expressed as stress, a weakened immune system, seizures, epilepsy, high blood pressure, brain damage, diabetes, fibromyalgia, infertility, birth defects, DNA damage, leukemia, cancer, etc.”

The evidence is now indisputable and children are many times more at risk than adults
Dr Mae-Wan Ho, PhD, FRSA, Director of the Institute of Science in Society, London, UK:
“It is very important for schools and other public places frequented by children to be free of Wi- Fi. The evidence on ‘non-thermal’ biological effects of very weak electromagnetic fields is now indisputable and children are many times more at risk than adults.”
Wifi must be deemed highly hazardous and unsafe for the children as well as for the staff.
Dr Olle Johansson, Associate Professor, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, and Professor, The Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.:
“Wireless systems, such as Wi-Fi routers and cell/mobile/smart phones, cannot be regarded as safe in schools, but must be deemed highly hazardous and unsafe for the children as well as for the staff.” (Safe Schools 2012)
Dr Olle Johansson, Associate Professor, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, and Professor, The Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden:
2018: “ I’m just surprised that our society including parliament, government, health authorities, citizens, parents, and more are so quickly willing to expose their kids to things that in laboratory experiments have been very detrimental to life”. (From “I´m not the only one.” by Jolie Jones).
WI-FI must be banned from school deployment

Letter about Wi-Fi in schools: http://wifiinschools.org.uk/resources/Carpenter+letter+Feb2011.pdf.
“Chronic, such as all-day, school exposure, is more likely than short and intermittent exposure, such as cell phone use, to produce harmful health effects, and is likely to do so at lower exposure levels. Persons stationed close to school computers with WI-FI and especially those very near to any WI-FI infrastructure will receive considerably higher exposure than do others.
Exposure to high-frequency radiofrequency (RF) and microwave (MW) radiation and also the extreme low frequency (ELF) EM fields that accompany WI-FI exposure have been linked to a variety of adverse health outcomes. Some of the many adverse effects reported to be associated with and/or caused by ELF fields and/or RF/MW radiation include neurologic, endocrine, immune, cardiac, reproductive and other effects, including cancers. Human studies of comparable RF/MW radiation parameters show changes in brain function including memory loss, retarded learning, performance impairment in children, headaches and neurodegenerative conditions, melatonin suppression and sleep disorders, fatigue, hormonal imbalances, immune dysregulation such as allergic and inflammatory responses, cardiac and blood pressure problems, genotoxic effects like miscarriage, cancers such as childhood leukemia, childhood and adult brain tumors, and more.
Children are more vulnerable to RF/MW radiation because of the susceptibility of their developing nervous systems. RF/MW penetration is greater relative to head size in children, who have a greater absorption of RF/MW energy in the tissues of the head at WI-FI frequencies. Children are largely unable to remove themselves from exposures to harmful substances in their environments. Their exposure is involuntary. There is a major legal difference between an exposure that an individual chooses to accept and one that is forced upon a person, especially a dependent, who can do nothing about it. WI-FI must be banned from school deployment.” (Safe Schools 2012)

Imprisoning Children and Teachers in Microwaved Classrooms Is a Crime Beyond Belief!
James G. (“Jerry”) Flynn, Captain (Retʼd), Canadian Armed Forces:
”Imprisoning Children and Teachers in Microwaved Classrooms Is a Crime Beyond Belief!”
“ Inconceivably, precious children and their teachers are forced – every moment they are at school – to sit in classrooms with powerful industrial-grade Wi-Fi routers above their heads that emit the more dangerous ʻpulsedʼ form of M/W radiation on frequencies which the US Military knows are lethal to all human organs and organ systems: 2.4 GHz or both 2.4 and 5.8 GHz! W-Fi routers emit their pulsed non-thermal radiation in all directions constantly, 24/7/365, blanketing entire areas ranging in distance from just hundreds of feet out to encompass a schoolʼs entire property!
Non-industry scientists know that the harmful biological and health effects of low-level pulsed radiation are cumulative. It is not a question of IF a student or teacher will be harmed, but how much accumulated radiation over how many months and/or years can their individual bodies endure before they succumb to serious illness?”

The EEA requests that EU Member States do more to inform citizens about the risks of EMF exposure, especially to children
The European Environment Agency EEA. 2020: “The European Environment Agency (EEA) has long advocated precaution concerning EMF exposure, pointing out that there were cases of failure to use the precautionary principle in the past, which have resulted in often irreversible damage to human health and environments. Appropriate, precautionary and proportionate actions taken now to avoid plausible and potentially serious threats to health from EMF are likely to be seen as prudent and wise from future perspectives. The EEA requests that EU Member States do more to inform citizens about the risks of EMF exposure, especially to children.

On the Clear Evidence of the Risks to Children from Smartphone and Wifi Radio Frequency Radiation
2019
Tom Butler
“
Abstract
Children’s health and well-being is under significant threat from everyday digital technologies, as the past 15 years have seen the proliferation of microwave Radio Frequency Radiation (RFR) devices in the home, school and society. The safety standards for such devices — smartphones, tablets etc. — were based on the proven thermal effects of microwave devices in adults, not children. Scientists in the life sciences have long been aware of equally harmful non-thermal effects. However, physicists and engineers have operated on the theory that non-ionizing RFR could not directly damage human DNA and lead to cancer, as it was far less powerful than ionizing radiation (x-rays, nuclear etc.). That theory has been solidly and roundly refuted, as this paper illustrates. Cancer risks aside, research studies have demonstrated that low-intensity RFR elicits a range of pathophysiological conditions in experimental animals and humans. This is why parents, educators and governments should be alarmed and take immediate and appropriate action. There is clear ignorance on such matters among parents, educators and governments, as well as academics across the natural, life and social sciences. In response, this paper aims to inform by presenting clear evidence, in a balanced manner, of the risks to children based on proven scientific theories and empirical evidence. The paper concludes by offering practical advice on how the risks to children, and indeed adults, can be minimised.”
